Yea ...Finally the sun is shining and the wonderful weather I had come to love since August has returned. The dark clouds began on Christmas Eve and the temperature dropped from 76 to 56. That was OK as it made me feel more like the weather I am used to in Virginia at Christmas. When the dark clouds stayed and the rain poured down for 6 days I was getting a serious case of "cabin fever"!This much rain at this time of the year is very unusual. Consequently there wasn't much to post. We mostly sat by the small heater I had insisted on packing in our "over crowded" Jeep! My husband insisted we were not going to need it where we were going. I was glad I brought it! And so was he!
This morning the sky was beautiful and the temperature rose to a wonderful 75 degrees. My husband was up before sunrise and took these pictures from our balcony.
We walked the boardwalk by the lake as we often do and he clouds over the lake covered up all the mountains on the other side except for the tops.
This fisherman must have been glad to be able to get out in his boat after so much bad weather.
These mattresses are not for sleeping! I saw 2 teenage boys having a great time doing flips and acrobatic tricks on them before the rain.
These young boys were at the end of the boardwalk with fireworks lighting them and having a great time. Fireworks are the "norm" here and are everywhere!
We were to meet Bob's sister and her husband for lunch. We had to walk about 3 blocks as all the parking was taken. School is out and many families take vacation this time of the year as well as people coming from the US and Canada to spend several weeks so there are a lot of people enjoying the shops and restaurants.
This is the narrow entrance from the street.
It then opens up into a large courtyard with beautiful plants, umbrellas and lots of cozy table settings.
It felt a little chilly in the shade and our waiter asked Bob's sister if she was cold. He then brought her a shaw to put over her shoulders. That is what I call service! The food was arranged beautifully on the plates and everyone liked their meal choice.
This cute shop was across the street with all types of interesting things to buy.
I wish you could smell the aroma coming from this deli. It will make you hungry even if you had just eaten. It has the best ham, salami, cheeses, and the croissants filled with blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, apple and dark chocolate are wonderful! The croissants are only about 50 cents each. You have to be there before 9:30 a.m. to get the croissants as they go FAST!
This is the square and the coffee shop in this picture is filled with Americans and Canadians socializing and enjoying the return of great weather.
Vendors around the square are displaying their wares.
We decided to walk about 3-4 blocks away to see a T-shirt place and on the way we passed a butcher shop. This mama street dog is hoping the butcher will take pity on her and give her some meat.
As we come back by about 20 minutes later, we see the butcher ,who is know to be kind to street dogs, has given these 2 dogs something to eat. There are a lot of dogs in our area. Some street dogs and others belonging to Mexicans, Americans and Canadians. It is a town full of dog lovers.
A mural we saw on our walk back to our car.
This stroller for kids is so cute and so was the little boy in it. With the cobblestone road, the ride might have been a little bumpy!
This whimsical rabbit was in one of the shops.
There are many very small outside eating places everywhere. All you need are chairs and a table as you can see in this picture.
