Trip to Cuyulatan (Part 2)

Second day started out cloudy and we were able to enjoy the beach until about 2:00 p.m. After that the rain came and it poured.

The rain did not stop the people in end tent above from having enjoying  the beach.

Rain pouring off the roof

We were standing on the balcony watching it rain when we turned around and looked down the hall toward the bedrooms and water was gushing down the hallway!

Bob realized that the balcony at the end of the hall was filling up with water and overflowing into the hall and also into our bedrooms! We rushed around looking in closets for mops, brooms, pails anything to bail the water out.  It was so funny as Aracelly was bailing the water out in the pail above a tour bus was passing by and the expression on the faces of the people inside made us all laugh!

Bob unclogged the holes in the balcony that had become stopped up and angled the metal table to catch the water falling from a hole in the straw overhang so it drained off the balcony.

Bob had to prop the metal table up with a yard rake.  He was great at improvising as we had very little to work with!

He used a dust pan to help scoop up the remaining water off the balcony.  We placed towels at the entrance of our bedrooms after sweeping the water out to keep any more water from entering.

After the rain stopped, a beautiful rain appeared.

Because of the heat and the air conditioning being only in the bedrooms, we ate most of our meals outside by the pool.

Aracelly brought a traditional Myan meal to share.  It was wrapped in banana leaves

and had a cornbread crust stuffed with black beans, shredded chicken and a tomato base.

The next morning the sun was shining and it was a beautiful cloudless day.  We took a walk down the malecon with flower seen in this picture.

There were many small places like tis to eat along the malecon and you could order what you wanted and they would bring it to your chair.

The places were not 5 star places.  This is a small town, but tourists flock here to enjoy the ocean.

As you can see, the place below is pretty "rustic" across the street from us.

As you can see the sand is black and very soft, no rocks or shells.

Many chairs and umbrellas were set up for rent.

Children playing in the sand.

Some families rent these pools for their young children so they won't be in the ocean.

We rented this large tent and 8 chairs with 2 tables for $16 for the day.  We stayed on the beach from about 10:30 until 6:00 p.m.  The wind was blowing and it was wonderful. The water in the ocean wasn't cold and the waves were great to body surf.

Bob ordered a shrimp cocktail and he received this glass that contained steamed shrimp, juices of some kind, cilantro and tortillas. Not quite what he expected!

We saw these boys on a jet ski.

Surfers.

Sunset that evening.  A wonderful time was had by all.
