Last evening we had our Mexicans friend, Memo, and his family over for dinner.  Bob met him at the Globo Festival as we sat next to one another. He had us over for dinner soon after and we have been enjoying he and his wife's company ever since.  We had his four children make their own pizza and watch Monster University.  It is the custom to feed the children first, then the adults eat together.  Their children are adorable and extremely well behaved.  We plan to travel to Puerto Vallarta with him next week and stay at his condominium while he is there on business. Puerto Vallarta is on the Pacific Coast about 5 hours away and his condo is on the beach.  It is Memo's desire to rent the entire property we are on when we leave for the states and in about a year buy the property.  Four of his children are below.  He also has a college age son who ate with us adults.

Today as usual began with a walk by the lake.

This is the first time we have seen this green algae on the shoreline.

It covered the entire length of the shoreline.

This bird stood about 4 foot tall in the algae.

White pelican near the shore.

There are many artists in Ajijic.  This lady was painting the lake.

Being that it is Halloween night, the two ladies across the street were getting ready for a night on the town.

This is Melanie and she is so much fun to be around.  She previously lived in North Carolina and has lived in Mexico for 8 years.

This is Linda and she recently arrived from Canada.  She had her face painted as a butterfly.

Bob and I leaving for dinner at Roberto's Restaurant.

This is the indoor seating.  We are eating in the outdoor area.  The place was once a residence.  It is a lovely place with great atmosphere and good food.  There are about 20 choices on the menu.

There was a live combo and the girls singing was great!

This is Roberto (the owner) dressed for the occasion.  He was handing out tickets for a drawing for a weekend trip to his Bed and Breakfast on the Pacific Ocean in Cuyutlan.

UNBELIEVABLE!  Bob's sister won the trip.  Woohoo!!  The place is about 5 hours away.  It has 5 bedrooms, air conditioning (a luxury here), a pool and is on the beach.  She will take Aracely and Gilberto (her best friends) with us. They are so much fun to be with. Can't wait to swim in the ocean!

We had no specific plans for dinner until Pat's friend, Roberto, called and asked us if we would be interested in coming to his restaurant and be his guests for 1/2 price.  Sounded great to us.  We love to eat there as the food is always good.

This weekend we had an unexpected guest at our house.  Pat had invited her best friends (who are a wonderful Mexican family) over to have dinner.  We had eaten and were enjoying our dessert when a stranger appeared at the door leading from our dining room to the garage.  He asked for help.  He said someone was trying to kill him. He was obviously in pain, holding his chest.  We were shocked to see him standing there as usually the garage door is shut and locked after dark and so is the 12 foot metal gate to our house. Our house is also surrounded by a 12 foot walls with barbed wire on it.  We could not figure how he had gotten in.  Somehow in the confusion of letting in our dinner guests, it had been overlooked.  We speak very little Spanish so Pat's friend asked the man who was after him and examined his chest.  He had scratches and was bleeding, but fortunately no gun shot or other wounds. He kept holding his chest and slumping over and said he was in terrible pain.  We did not know if he had heart trouble or what exactly was wrong.  We called the police and the ambulance.  He did not seem to be a threat, but we did not know who was after him.  About 6 police showed up and Pat's friend handled the whole situation.  So glad she was here with us.  The police took their flashlights and examined our yard for other intruders.  The ambulance showed up, and come to find out the man had escaped from his mother's house (about a block away) after being missing for a week and was being confined at home due to a drug and alcohol problem.  He got in the ambulance and was taken away.  The police were very helpful and polite to us.  What a Godsend it was to have Pat's friends here with us!

The weather here still feels like summer. We are wearing shorts and flip flops!  On our walk by the lake this morning, we encountered an artist painting on the skateboard wall.  She had no drawing, she just painted a little, stood back and examined her work, and continued painting.

The park by the lake is kept pristine.  There are always workers watering the grass, picking up trash, and sweeping the boardwalk as you can see in the next picture.  He is using a long palm branch to get the leaves and dirt off the walk.

The wind was making ripples in the lake and the clouds are always beautiful on the mountains.

There are many large white pelicans with black tipped wings that fly over the lake.

As we walk beside the lake and stop to talk with the other Americans and Canadians, they all say as we part..."Another beautiful day in paradise!"

Saturday morning the clouds over the mountains were beautiful.

We began our day with the usual 2-3 mile walk by the lake and exercising.

The view was exceptionally clear considering the mountain is 12 miles away.

This stained glass window is in a retirement home near where we walk.

We drove to pick up dog food and this vet's office was next door to the animal shelter where we buy our dog's food.

My most favorite door handle (about 12 inches long) seen so far
belongs to this gardener entrance door.

At 4:00 pm in the town square they displayed pumpkins created by the local children. All supplies were donated and the  pumpkin and seeds inside were given out to the locals to be able to either eat or sell.  The pumpkins were auctioned off and the funds given to local charities.

Also happening was the 2013 (Michael Jackson's)Thriller Dance that takes place worldwide on the same day at the same time.  Each participant solicits fundraising and all the funds go to local charities. Below is some of the "gruesome" cast of zombie characters.
